| So today its a little extreme I definatley pushed my own limits seriously far but thats great you know... something new is always good!!! So, afterschool on Wednesdays, you can play sports if you dont want to go home, I havent really been interested in them, but sometimes they have specialty activites like field trips, and I heard that they were going to Grenoble today for accro-branche its a bit like tree climbing/ropes course, so of course I tryed it lol! The other girls went too! So I had no clue what to expect but we just kind of jumped in... we had a pic nic when we got there and then we had to go through basic training of how to use your gear we had two hook things and then a zip line apparatus... so its a bit like balance beam, you walk across these ropes, but you are hooked, like mountain climbing, and there are also rope swings, moving logs and ladders, hovering planks, these platforms on strings that are swinging all over the place, and they are all so high that you cant see the ground because you are over the canopy of the trees. So, we had the training, the basics, always remain hooked, never more than 2 at a time on an obstacle... so we went to try it out, I stuck with Hannah and Eirin (exchange student from Norway) so we went to green first... thats moderatly easy, and enjoyable, the platforms dont really mova and you always have more than one thing to hold onto... next we went to yellow... this is the intermediate course, and it was still fun, it was getting difficult like you were standing on a thin rope hugging a tree and you had to change you hooks onto another line and climb up ladders and stuff, also you had to make it across suspended lines where the platforms spin and the logs shift or are too far apart for comfort, it was a challenge, but still fun. Next and it was probably stupid choice, we decided to do red, and thats the hard one... it was mandatory that you wear gloves omg it was so hard, you have to start by climbing a climbing wall to the top and then make it across these planks that are each freely hanging, so you are holding onto one, really scared trying to get the other to swing your way, alone in the forest saying what in the world am i supposed to do? THen yep you bet, as we were scared to death shaking on this course hovering at terrifing feet in the air it comes a downpour and they make us keep going, and the wind was blowing and they made me go across this long metal tight rope that was horribly slick hovering so high that i couldnt see the ground, blowing in the wind and alone out there clinging for life to my hooks, I made it, Hannah was shaking too we were freezing, wet, and stranded on the expert lever tree climbing course lol! Thi was one of the most physically hardest things I have ever done, and I cant really explain how bad this is in words, and we couldnt take anything in our pockets on the course, so I only have pictures from training, and they are on Monicas camera so Ill have to get those later, but it was so freaking scary, but I have a huge since of accomplishment now after doing it lol! Afterwards I went to dance, I was terribly late because Hannah and I got off in Vinay but her mom was actually waiting in St. Marcellin, woops, anyways I made it about 20 minutes late it was no big i caught up fast and now im here, ill post the pictures that I have but monica has more of the traiing cause she went first and then took pictures of us! |
